Most people know Nde Ndifonka with artistic name Wax Dey aka Mr. Arrogant currently building a fan group ArroGang, simply as a Cameroonian singer and an entrepreneur, also as the CEO of Calabash Music 237 , but not many of those, know many other things. He is one of the first Cameroonian artists of the older generation and new generation, to have won Best Male Artist in Central Africa at the 2016 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
Prior to his 2016 win, Wax Dey already had some key achievements to boast about. He was shortlisted amongst other 49 Cameroonian Influential youths in 2016. A year later, he became a LuquLuqu Ambassador to the UN in Africa in 2017. LuquLuqu is a social movement that strives to shed light on the incredible resilience refugees demonstrate.
The business guru embarked on his professional music career sometime between 2006 and 2008 and has over the years, become a reputable brand in the country, Unarguably one of the most successful in the business.
Besides being a singer and music business expert/Entrepreneur, Wax Dey is a social activist, who has carried out uncountable community and advocacy projects. He recently added Politics to many of his agendas & responsibilities.
In December 2020, he ran for the position for Board Chair of Cameroon Music Corporation (SONACAM), though he didn’t emerge winner, but it’s a big step in Inspiring youths Into daring into political issues for national change in a country which doesn’t even encourage youths to dive into political affairs.
Born in Bamenda, Cameroon, Wax Dey went on to study law at the University of Buea where he graduated with a LL.B Honors in Law, and later obtained a Masters of Art in Forced Migration at the University of WitWatersrand in Johannessburg, South Africa.
Wax Dey is a father of a son with his ex-girlfriend who passed away at the beginning of 2021. The singer and media entrepreneur who paid his last respect to his ex was in South Africa to lay her to rest. The singer got married few weeks later, after returning from South Africa.
It can be argued that Wax Dey with his external connections around Africa, is the most networked English Cameroonian artist. We shouldn’t also forget that he’s a law graduate from the University of Buea amongst many of his pursuits.
His discography shows nothing but traces of successful business musical projects in the course of his career. He can boast of working with most top African entertainers especially in the music industry, from Dontom, Flavor, Yemi Alade , Master KG and a host of others.
His discography can be summarized below by highlighting some of his projects. They include, Albums: Number One Girl, Final Light & Rise Again: The Lockdown EP, which was released in 2020 amidst the COVID-19In other Entertainment adventures, he was the Producer and main actor of Cameroonian reality TV contest, “Number One Girl”, which used to air on Equinox TV.
2021 continues to look promising, as the head of Calabash music is focusing maximum attention in the agricultural sector. It should also be noted that, he’s an ambassador for the ongoing Environmental Protection Campaign by WWF Cameroon, who recently organized a seminar to sensitize the population about the need to protect the environment.
