Cameroonian rapper CLEO GRAE is effortless and seemingly less stressed as far as his career is concerned. I think it’s fair to label him as one of the most reliable artists in the industry as it stands. We can say he figured out his sound and what works amazingly for him.
Since coming to the spotlight in 2019, Cleo Grae has been steadfast and his brilliance and uniqueness has not only earned him an undisputable place in the hearts of fans and music lovers, but has also earned him a signature under Blu Nations Recording, so far, one of the smartest moves in my opinion. The success of Tzy Panchak under this label has given many artists a reason to long for the label’s attention.
Saying Cleo Grae has been relevant is a thing no one should argue about. You’ll attest that he’s lyrically savvy, confident and knows what he’s worth. He, being in his own lane alone, proves that though he makes it look so easy, that anyone copying him needs to put in enough work and show character to deliver like he does.
It’s no news that he’s been a great addition to the hip-hop scene. His song writing skills are incredible too. The ability to keep it simple and relatable, sets him right up there with other top artists. From bars, story lines and his generous use of rhymes, there are few who’d stand this fellow on a good day. One thing about his way of music is that, he motivates in a subtle and witty fashion too.
However, I have a worry. I think that besides him being effortless with his flow, he’s equally not under pressure from any other artist in the industry. He’s alone on his lane, something we should be praying changes soon. We’ve seen and heard upcoming artists confess about being inspired and influenced by artists like Jovi, Ko-c, Tzy Panchak etc, and we’ve seen them doing it like the aforementioned. We know Cleo is a work in progress, but I think it’s time to start seeing uprising artists equally copy his style of music, which is strictly Cameroonian to lay emphasis.
The inability of some artists to adopt his philosophy thus far, shows that his influence is still doubted. But this shouldn’t be the case… when someone is capable, he should be emulated! Or is it that there are no artists willing to enter his space and compete with him in a similar musical style because artists might not feel able or confident enough to try Cleo’s style of music or compete with him as he has already established himself in that lane?
It’s a good thing to be unique just like he is, but the influence of most artists is rated based on how many people are copying his/her style or art. That he’s on his lane alone, I believe he’s not only effortless, but he’s under little or no pressure from any rapper in the country.
