It’s not as easy as it seems. Creating a record label is an entire job of its own and that is why many artists last longer in other labels even if they wished to be gone from their masters. Being an employee is fun sometimes but not all the time.
To create a label, legal proceedings are required and legal aspects of music publishing are complicated. Getting them wrong at any moment will get one screwed, but most artists have done their homework and have all it takes to run a label and if growth allows them to do so why won’t they?
