It’s 2021 and most Cameroonian musicians look pretty ready to hold the bull by the horn as far as adding relevance and protecting their sound is concern. The debate about why foreign music dominates the national territory, is not a story or issue of today. However, most Cameroonians seem to be tired of being snubbed internationally but foreigners having a different feel in Cameroon.
Over the years, foreign artists have invaded the national territory and gone back to their countries of origin while smiling from molars to premolars due to heavy pay checks earned from shows. On the other hand, home artists can’t boast of highly paid shows by home show organizers, neither can they do same in a foreign land!
Most home artist have had enough of the foreign dominance. While artists like Stanley Enow believe that more of Cameroonian content should be aired by home DJs and home consumers, other parties believe that putting an end to foreign content entirely is the solution.
In your opinion, will banning foreign music help Cameroonian music gain more relevance?
