Hello there THJ’ers…  and I hope you all had a great Easter weekend! Guess what? It’s only Monday and we are already dancing to the beats of a new song called “Ma Valeur” by the 1st lady of Alpha Better Records, the home of Salatiel and Mr. Leo! Ma Valeur means My Value and the song which is primarily sang in English and slightly in French sends a chilling message across to many women in a relationship to know their value and their worth! In this video, Askia seems to come out with an alter ego… from housewive to this successful daring vixen who knows her worth and isn’t ashamed to show it!

If you ask me, I love the confident version of Askia in this video!! It’s all about girl power!  Of course the video was very well coordinated under the direction of the very much sought after Dr. Nkeng Stephen who has directed countless videos for many high profile Cameroonian musicians. Watch the Ma Valeur video and tell us what you think!

I am loving this new Askia..She is rebranding herself into the Alpha Better Records team..As for artists singing in French…We live in a country with mostly Francophones..and they are the audience who mostly support Entertainment! As long as there is money to be made..adapt to your audience…

This is a really good song, totally dope.I mean Askia is on up to something. but the question now is i
dont know what is wroing with us Anglo musicians, apparently if you cant rap or sing in French in this country you wont get paid or what…Im just curious…
it looks like the very problem Anglophones are fighting for (which is francophonization) is openly demonstrated by anglo artist today, SMH…it looks like we are targeting the french to consume our music rather than our very own people..I hope this end well though

Elf thanks for your comment. You bring up some good points there! Is it true that Cameroonian Anglophone artists must sing in French to sell? Or the question is, are they more marketable if they sing in French versus English? There is definitely a trend going on here… need I say more? 🙂
