The Discovery Show Presents The First Ever All Female Concert Called The “get The Bag Concert”

Get The Bag Concert is the first all-female concert to take place in Cameroon’s economic capital, Douala. The event will be held on Saturday, November 30, and is a joint venture between The Discovery Show, founded by media entrepreneur Tino Foy and hip-hip artist Askia, a former artist of Alpha Better Records.

The idea for the Get The Bag Concert grew out of Askia’s The Bag Series, a music video initiative that brought together both established and emerging female artists. The project was created to showcase talented women who might otherwise have gone unnoticed while promoting a powerful message of women’s empowerment through women supporting women.

At a time when Cameroon’s music industry had slowed down, with few major releases generating excitement, the idea of an all-female concert quickly captured people’s attention. Apart from Salatiel’s collaboration with Beyoncé on The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack and Awu’s Yayayo, which was becoming one of the biggest songs of 2019, there wasn’t much creating buzz in the industry. The announcement of the country’s first all-female concert was therefore a refreshing and exciting moment. Few people would have imagined that Askia would be the driving force behind such a groundbreaking initiative.

Thanks to The Bag Series, which features some of Cameroon’s most talented female artists from both the English- and French-speaking communities, many music lovers have discovered performers they may never have heard of otherwise. The series has highlighted artists with impressive lyrical ability while helping create a platform where female talent can shine.

The Get The Bag Concert is organized by The Discovery Show, a platform founded by Tino Foy to discover and promote talented creatives. Through events like this, it continues to give artists opportunities to reach wider audiences.
