Mr. Leo who calls himself the Lion of Africa, is an artist who deserves to be celebrated, exalted and promoted. Many talented artists are littered in the music-sphere, but lack the discipline and discernment to showcase it.
Many have refused to pay the price that has to be paid for exploit. Their egos are much larger than their commitment to career development. Some lost their heads to the game, especially when the fame came in, looked for who to inherit their shame, but there was none to take their blame. But Mr. Leo has been a force and a teacher by action and has made his followers believe in his music and dream. They laughed when he said he was the “Lion of Africa”, now they don’t laugh anymore.
LESSON
Say who you are so they don’t tell you who you are not! Every young artist who follows the footsteps of an artist like Mr. Leo will most likely have a higher chance to succeed. He only speaks when necessary, he trusts his team so much and he knows that his career is in their hands, not forgetting that he’s the one with the talent. He is proof that you can have it all now and lose it in a blink of an eye, and can still pick yourself up and do it all over again.
Do you see how much allegiance he still pays to his mentors Salatiel and Blaise B despite his fame? Gratitude is key and don’t ever forget where you come from. These are the lessons he has been teaching us without using words to say so. He has also proven that the negative things people say about you should be used as a challenge and a prerequisite for improvement.
He has not only taken a new challenge to be a great artist by changing his sound (and parking the sound people are used to) but rebranding and reconstructing his image as well. He has over three million social media followers, though he deserves more, and uses his influence not only to grow other artists careers, but he indirectly also supports bloggers to grow by re-sharing their content when they mention him in their posts and/or share his stuff.
Funny enough, after Nigerian-Canadian rapper Dax, Leo is one of those artists who understands that a public figure’s social media relevance lies firstly in the hands of their fans and supporters, and it’s ability to convert non-fans into fans.
They know growth on social media platforms is not free, and if you don’t have money to pay everyone who supports you, then you can at east reciprocate their love through a win-win strategy by engaging and/or re-sharing.
