Rappers are known to be deeper than other musicians or artists. This is because they’re not just out to sing, but they’re advocates of change. On today’s episodes of Icons, we’re focusing on Arrey Tek . Cameroonian gospel rapper and entrepreneur, whose life needs to be highlighted and referenced.
PS: If you’re one of the people who think people will tattoos are not supposed serve God or be in the house of God, then thus article is not for you.
Who Is Arrey Tek?
Arrey Tek, popularly known artistically as Sound Boy aka G.4 is from the South West Region (the Manyu area), of Cameroon. A multi-award winning rapper, the CEO and President of Cameroonian Record Label called Eagle’s Wings Productions .
Being someone who grew up emulating rappers like Lil Wayne; a rapper who was his motivation for choosing an artistic career in secular music, G.4 would go above and beyond, just to make sure he was seen like Wizzy. This meant that, his way of life was everything like that of his idol. He went as far as joining Gangs and tatting his whole body just to be seen as the LilWayne of his time.
In 2007, he adopted Rap professionally and was becoming extremely notorious in his pursuit for fame. However, he was rescued from the “world” in 2010, when he received christ, a decision he has made us know was the best decision of his life. After receiving christ, he didn’t let his talent die, but chose to use the same talent to bring a change into the gospel sector, something he’s been doing with much conviction but not without his past hunting him though. Those hunting are those who didn’t believe he could switch to who he is today.
He’s is one of, if not the most talented Cameroonian gospel artists. Though many try to use his tattoos as an opportunity to discourage his gospel affairs, he has deliberately not given into the naysayers and critics. He has rather used his tattoos as an opportunity to help other “wayward” or other tatted youths to come back to the light and start all over, shamelessly.
If a man turns his back from his old ways, he’s said to be a new creation according to 2Cor 5:17. It doesn’t mean your physical deeds will miraculously disappear, but those are minimized. Most often, people who use other’s pasts against them are people who are gutted by the change or don’t just want to accept that those people are no longer who they’ve always been.
Since turning from his old ways, G4 has performed alongside big music outfits like Sincach, Frank Edwards, Ada just to name a few. He has continued to raise an army of gospel ministers and messengers, via his record label. Artists like Asheck , Paul M.O.G just to name a few have been under the umbrella of Eagle’s Wings Production. They’ve done marvelously for the gospel sector, from winning many awards, to changing lives. G.4 as the president of the platform is not only that, he’s a winner, as such teaches his artists and team how to win.
G4 is happily married, and the young couple, own a popular restaurant in the city of Douala, called Tek’s Kitchen. They are not only restaurant owners but an event organizing and catering unit.
Added to the above, G.4’s discography is thick. He released his first album in 2014 “Sanctified” his “Kingspriest” EP was released in 2019. He released “Zion” featuring LesLinè and just recently released “The Light” his latest single.
It should be recorded that away from music, he’s a Professional Management accountant, owns a clothing brand called “Born Again by G.4”. There’s just more to be said about this man, but we can end here and just remind you that your change is what someone’s life depends on. The more you delay it, the more you delay your chances to live your best life and at your highest potential.
