The only real question now is how often she plans to drop new music. A bit of consistency and commitment going forward could easily place her right back at the top, even if that’s not her focus right now.
From the reactions across social media, one thing is clear… Daphne is still very much loved. The support hasn’t gone anywhere. If anything, it’s been waiting.
That said, her solo journey won’t be a walk in the park. Going independent comes with pressure, expectations, and a different level of responsibility. But it also comes with something just as important… freedom. The freedom to move how she wants, create on her own terms, and rebuild her career her way.
And that alone is enough reason to believe this comeback might just be worth the wait.
Was Daphne’s return worth the wait?
Daphné Njie, known mononymously as Daphne, really doesn’t need an introduction at this point. Even during her hiatus, she never fully left the conversation. Fans stayed asking the same question… when is she coming back?
On October 4, 2024, she finally answered that question. Daphne, proudly called “Queen” by her fans, made her return with a feel-good track titled Happy, featuring Nigerian star Teni.
The official video, directed by King Achiri, pulled in about 1,600 views within just three hours on Daphne’s YouTube channel at the time of this write-up. Visually, it tells a personal story. From love and marriage to pregnancy and stepping back into the music scene, Daphne shows a softer, more grounded side of herself. And despite everything she has faced behind the scenes, especially with her former label, she comes across calm, focused, and ready. It’s also worth noting that the video keeps things clean, making it easy for anyone to watch.
Of course, the numbers could have looked different if she was still under Steven’s Music Entertainment, which has over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. But this is clearly a new chapter. Going independent comes with its own challenges, and the journey won’t be as smooth as fans might expect. Still, Happy does exactly what it needs to do. It’s not trying too hard, it’s just a solid, enjoyable track that reintroduces Daphne and sets the tone for what’s next.
Produced by Ntui Rodrique Egbe and mixed and mastered by K Master K Mix, the song carries a simple but relatable message. Life will always come with ups and downs, but choosing happiness is a decision.
The track is co-written by Asaba and Teni, both known for their strong songwriting. The melody is smooth, the hook is easy to catch, and Teni brings her usual unique energy without overdoing it. You already know what she brings to the table.
Some might say Daphne could have tapped into a more “trending” artist for her comeback, but teaming up with Teni still sends a message. It shows intention. It hints that Daphne might be leaning more into international collaborations going forward.
