The nominations for the Grammy Awards 2025, have now been unveiled with old records being broken and new ones set. Beyoncé and Tailor Swift entered the record books as they both made history with 11 and six nods respectively.
Beyoncé breaks two records
Beyoncé only needed a single nomination for the 2025 Grammy awards to earn the most nominations in Grammys’ history, but she ended up receiving 11 nods.
Now, with 99 nominations throughout her career, she is now officially the most-nominated artist in the awards’ history. She has now surpassed her husband Jay-z who was tied with hied at 88 overall nominations.
The “Irreplaceable” singer also set a separate record with her album Cowboy Carter, which is now the most-nominated Grammy album of all time, beating Michael Jacksons Michael Jackson’s Thriller and her husband’s The Blueprint 3, which got 10 nods, and her own Lemonade and Renaissance, which both received nine.
The album received accolades across pop, country, rap, and Americana categories, in addition to Album of the year. She only missed out in Best R&B song, to which the album’s track “Tyrant” was submitted.
Taylor Swift makes history
After receiving an album of the Year nomination for her album The tortured poets Department, which is her fourth consecutive album to get the honor, Taylor is now the first woman to earn seven nominations in the category across her career.
At last year’s ceremony, Taylor became the first artist to win Album of the year four times after clinching the trophy for the Midnights. She previously won for Fearless in 2010, 1989 in 2016, and Folklore in 2021. She was also nominated at the 2014 ceremony for Red, but lost to Daft Punk’s Random Access, and at the 2022 event for Evermore, but lost to Jon Batiste’s We are.
Beyoncé, nominated in 11 categories, could extend her lead at the top as the artist with the most wins. She already has 35 overall Grammy wins; 32 as a solo artist and three more with Destiny’s Child.
