On our weekend radar is the current reigning Miss Cameroon 2018 – Caroline Nseke who traveled to China to represent Cameroon at this years Miss World 2018. Although we are not optimistic that she will win, we will still wish her the best of luck as she will need it.
Over the past years that Miss World has taken place, few black women (especially dark skinned) African women have ever won the Miss World title and we highly doubt anything will change this year. I believe that all the past Miss Cameroon’s who had participated at previous Miss World only went for the sake of going, almost as an entitlement resulting from their “Miss Cameroon” title and because it is a prestigious highly publicized international pageant.
If you ask me, I would say that if you are a smart gal fortunate enough to take part in such a memorable and once in a life time event, then your main goal (or should I say your ONLY goal) should be to NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK like crazy. You will be in close proximity of representatives of major Sponsors, you will be in close proximity to people with money in the pageantry and entertainment world.

You will be in contact with many other females from around the world who are representing their country as well and even though they are equally as competitive as you are to win the title of Miss World, the idea of getting to know or having a “pen pal” or international “pal” after an event like this is a fun experience that can lead to long lasting relationships, especially since it never hurts to think that you might travel sometime to meet them in their home country and vice versa expanding your friendship comfort zone.
All this is just me thinking out loud and I guess I am tired of wishing every Miss Cameroon every year “good luck” at the Miss World knowing deep down in my heart that it won’t mean a thingwith respect to results as I’m usually always 99% sure that they won’t ever win.

With that said, as a media outlet TheHotJem.com continues to play it’s part by spreading the word! Who knows, one day might get lucky to have a half drugged or partially drunken judge who will see the beauty in our Cameroonian Queens aka Miss Cameroon’s someday. Until then, we are just passing by.
