Her name is Sarah Rector and was born and raised in Creek on an Indian plantation. So here’s what happened, as the result of an agreement between the United States and the Creek Indians, the Creeks and their former slaves were each given a plot of land. Sarah and her family were given a portion of rock infested land which was impossible to farm on. Sarah leased her portion out and later on it was discovered to be full with oil. Her income leaped from pennies to close to $15.000 USD and as time passed kept on increasing. With this wealth came along marriage proposals and things gradually grew out of hand. Sarah went to school in order to properly manage her estate and got married three times. She gave up the ghost at the age of 65 but will forever remain part of our African American history.
