The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has been dragged to the court of Arbitration for Sport after the Federation dished out a heavy sanction on elite two club, Stade FC de Bertoua for forfeiting an elite two match day.
Reports from “Actu Cameroun” news outlet were that the East Region club had allegedly forfeited a game of day 25 of the championship against Victoria United of Limbe, an action which wasn’t taken lightly by the football federation.
FECAFOOT responded to the action by automatically demoting Stade FC de Bertoua, two divisions down from the elite two championship. The president of the club, Intsele Mbiekououm Lucresse was also slammed a 5 year suspension from all FECAFOOT related activities, and ordered to pay a fine of 5 million FCFA. The club has responded to these sanctions by dragging the Federation to the Court of arbitration for sport, as according to them, the sanctions by FECAFOOT were harsh.
