FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMAN TO OBTAIN A DOCTORATE DEGREE FROM BERKELEY UNIVERSITY
Cameroonian-American woman obtains a PhD from UC Berkley. Dr. Christiane Voufo, became the first African-American woman to receive a doctorate degree from UC Berkeley on Friday, May 19, 2023.
The university is the United States’ first public university.
“I dared to dream, I dared to act, and I dared to rise to the occasion,”
said Dr. Voufo, on her Twitter account.
Christiane currently works as a consultant with the World Bank’s EdTech team, where her research focuses on the efficient use of technology to enhance STEM education for African females.
