We absolutely love, love, love to see whats trending out there in the fashion scene. Although here at THEHOTJEM.COM we tend to focus more on African fashion, we also share trends in global fashion when we see fit. So today, lets talk about… No this is not a Salt-n-Pepa song! Let’s talk about Ankara pencil skirts! YES – they are trending and have been trending for a while. However, more and more notable fashion bloggers are making it a point to showcase this trend. One well known Nigerian style blogger who can almost always be seen wearing an outfit with African print fabric is Karen All who goes by the name living_my_bliss_in_style on social media.
We love how she rocks some of her African print fabrics with some of her regular non-African print wear giving her that business-casual but bosslady yet stylish and chic look! So we thought what better person could we use to show you ladies the 4 different ways you can rock your own Ankara pencil skirts. In the 1st photo, you see her wearing it with a beutiful black peplum top. This gives her a more formal look and can be worn at weddings, formal events and even at work. Trust me you walk in with that outfit and ALL eyes will be on you like Tupac! In the 2nd photo, she skirt is made from Kente fabric which goes perfectly with her white shirt. Giving it that chic, classy yet not so stuffy look. Of course having a pair of Loubies wont hurt for that extra touch! 🙂
In the 3rd and 4th photos, her blue prints goes perfectly with demin shirt and tops. This gives it that NYC look where you arent trying too hard to look classy. You have to love African prints as you have an endless variety of options on what or how you want to wear it with! Hopefully, if you werent sure what to do with your African print pencil skirt, then now you know! So rocks your skirt as its a really cool trend that we hope will stay around for a long time!
