It is not only the dreadlocks that Grammy award winning Cameroonian musician Richard Bona has gotten rid of in the last few days. Today the multiple award winner also got rid of one of his award trophies. But wait it gets better.
Grammy award winning musician Richard Bona has been on a Facebook “rant” lately. Although we dislike using that term when it comes to this musical legend, it is a rant as he has been seen posting back to back about his general dismay of how his home country of Cameroon functions as a whole and the politics behind everything that goes on in Cameroon – including award shows.
The singer who parted with his signature look by cutting off his dreadlocks on May 19, (after 10 years), and decided to go bald, seems to be feeling a new kind of liberation with his newly bald head,
In his recent posts, he voices his opinion and thoughts about Cameroonian awards/trophies specifically Canal D’or’s trophy and compares it to trophies he has won from award shows internationally (outside of Cameroon). He also uses the awards as a medium to talk about the politics of winning awards.
On his Facebook page today, the singer posted a photo of his Canal D’or trophy awarded to him back in 2009 in his trash can and hashed tagged it as #garbage. He seemed upset by the fact that the trophy had typos as it spelt Musicien as “Musien” (Musicien mean Musician in French) as he posted the following (translated into English from French):
