The Board of Directors of Howard University, a historically black institution in Washington, D.C., made a significant decision on Friday, June 7th, 2024. They voted to revoke the honorary degree bestowed upon Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2014.
This decision followed the emergence of footage, aired by CNN, showing the music mogul and entrepreneur allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
After the video of him was published by CNN, he issued a public apology for his actions. This apology prompted the institution in question, to go on to confirm the revocation of the honorary he had received from the school 10 years ago. The university said,
“Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor.”
