THJ: Who are the hardest to work with, artists or models and why?
Corine: Sincerely, I have been so fortunate to have worked with so many amazing people, it’s a difficult question. At this moment I would say that some of my favorites are Ndem Nora besides being beautiful she is so smart and I learn from her all the time. Nora is one of the few people who sits in the chair sometimes without being on her phone and gives you her full attention.
THJ: Do you get more makeup gigs in Cameroon or Nigeria?
Corine: I get gigs in bought countries… I get calls everyday from Cameroon and unfortunately I am not there and most times I get to link them up to other MUA’s.
THJ: The African Fashion Industry is growing in Africa in general and we all know that Fashion and Makeup go hand in hand. Do you see that many people in the Fashion industry are utilizing professional MUA’s?
Corine: Oh yes they are.
THJ: With respect to future ventures, what can we expect from La Star’s business in the next year or two?
Corine: Still looking for opportunities to work with great production houses in the near future. Right now I’m working on creating more awareness for the brand “Lastarbeauty” and putting proper structure in place.
THJ: Do you do your own make-up, or do you go to MUAs to do it?
Corine: I am very lazy when it comes to my face… lol.! But I do my makeup myself unless most times I like to sit and handover my face to another MUA.
THJ: Though being a successful Makeup artist, what would you do differently if you had the chance to start all over again, and what advice do you have for young aspiring entrepreneurs venturing into the same industry?
Corine: The advice I have for young aspiring entrepreneurs is; Stay focused specifically on the area of the industry you want to succeed in. Be nice to everyone. Put your ego to one side. Be prepared to work for free so that you can build connections as well as a portfolio.
THJ: Great advice! Lastly, we know your birthday is on May 5th, 2019. Happy Birthday in advance and what surprise do you have in store for your followers, clients and the world?
Corine: We call it surprise right? Lol! Let’s keep it like that because it is going to be a good surprise.
THJ: Corine it was great having you here on THEHOTJEM.COM to answer all our questions during this interview and which you the best of luck with your business.
