Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have agreed to settle their divorce case. They said neither of them intended to cause the other any physical or emotional harm. Heard and Depp were married for 15 months before she filed for divorce. The date of separation was listed as the day after their alleged fight, which took place May 22.
In May, 30 year old Amber Heard filed for divorce from her 53 year old husband, Johnny Depp who filed his own petition two days later. Then, the actress secured a restraining order against her estranged husband, claiming that during a fight the previous weekend, he threw a cellphone at her face, pulled her hair and struck her. She submitted pictures of herself with a bruised face as evidence.
The Divorce case has been settled and Amber Heard has also dismissed her domestic violence restraining order petition due to the case being settled. The pair withdrew legal documents on Tuesday (August 16) for the domestic violence case, which was tied into the divorce case.
According to BBC, The couple also came to a financial settlement as part of their divorce. Unconfirmed reports put the value of the settlement between $7 million (£5.4 million) and $7.7 million (£5.9 million).
The couple released a joint statement saying:
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”
Thank goodness the case has finally been settled
