There’s a new fashion collection by designer Liz Ngwane, the woman behind fashion brand Margo’s Mode. We spotted some of her work earlier this year and loved the variety of styles, from fresh street-style looks to dresses that could easily be worn for a formal evening out. The brand works with both African prints and non-printed fabrics, giving its collections plenty of variety.
Margo’s Mode’s new collection is simply called the “H” Collection, and it was inspired by the female warriors of Japan’s Edo period.
According to Liz, behind a woman’s soft exterior can be the strength of a warrior. She describes her muse as confident, humble and strong, someone who chooses her battles wisely and knows when it is time to stand her ground and fight.
That idea of strength carries through the collection itself. The jackets are made with cotton fabrics and insulation designed to keep you warm without sacrificing style. We love when a designer has a clear idea of what a collection represents instead of simply creating beautiful clothes without a story behind them.
Liz also explained that the H Collection challenges the idea that different seasons should determine how stylish you can look. With the right pieces, you can stay warm, comfortable and fashionable regardless of the season. And as Liz would put it, a classic chick stays classy no matter what season it is.
