Over the past few months, Nges Brian and team have employed so much energy in bringing this award initiative to the limelight that might just go a long way to change our local ideas about award shows.
Due to the sudden emergence of award shows in Cameroon in recent years, many of which we believe have not held their part with respect to “credibility, visibility, fairness” and “integrity” with respect to nominee selection and most importantly the winners of these awards, we did not want to jump into conclusions about this MUMA initiative. Therefore, we at The HotJem took a step back to watch how this would unfold, especially with the outbreak of COVID-19 and for the time being, they seem to have come into the “awards game” very strong and are in the more advanced stages of the set up process.
As already mentioned, over the years we have witnessed so many award shows that either delivered or didn’t deliver the exact goods and went on to lose credibility which has led to the need for other daring ones like this. Muzikol which is one of the new but effective music streaming site/apps from Cameroon by a Cameroonian, has initiated their own award to award and honor local musicians and other contributors to the “musicsphere”.
The team sheepishly and diligently took their time to fish out the desirable categories that suit the award and have as a matter of fact involved some categories that most award shows neglect.
However, they have come to a juncture where they now need your support to help nominate the deserving nominees for the categories that follw as seen in the poster above. Do so through their official website as nominations begun yesterday and will end on August 08.
