The international Football Association FIFA, has banned Cameroonian Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o for six months.
Soccer legend and current FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o has been suspended by the FIFA disciplinary committee for supposedly violating one of the association’s Fairplay rules.
His comes weeks after the Cameroon U-20 female team were knocked out by Brazil in Bogota on September 11th, during their knockout game which Brazil ended up winning 3:1 in extra time.
“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the President of the Cameroonian Football Association (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, with a six-month ban from attending matches of Cameroon’s representative teams for breaches of articles 13 (Offensive behaviour and violations of the principles of fair play) and 14 (Misconduct of players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. The sanction was imposed in connection with the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup™ round-of-16 match between Brazil and Cameroon played in Bogotá, Colombia, on 11 September 2024.
The ban imposed on Mr Eto’o prevents him from attending mens’ and women’s matches involving FECAFOOT teams of all categories and age groups.
Mr Eto’o has been notified today, the date on which the sanction comes into force,” we can read on the FIFA website” – as seen on Ade Divine’s page.
Samuel Eto’o accompanied the junior lionesses in an unforgettable campaign which made the country proud, with Naomi Eto, scoring in the 11th minute during this knockout game to put the Indomitable lionesses ahead before Brazil leveled and eventually clinched a 3:1 win during extra time.
Today September 30th, Samuel Eto’o, has now received a six-months ban, which will prevent him from attending official National football matches of both the male and female Indomitable Lions.
