Have you ever taken time to just reflect on your life? Have you ever taking the time to look back at how far you’ve come and how much further you have to go? Have you ever pondered on your achievements and failures? If you answered yes to any of these three questions then you have at some point in your life reflected on yourself. have you ever taken time to just reflect on your life?
Have you ever taking the time to look back at how far you’ve come and how much further you have to go? Have you ever pondered on your achievements and failures? If you’ve answered yes to any of these three questions then you have at some point in your life reflected on yourself
Self reflection is one of the best gifts we can ever give to ourselves. You can equally be one of the scariest gifts you can ever give to yourself. Why do I say this? I say this because when you take the time out to meditate, and you mentally and emotionally block everything around you and let your mind and thoughts go and only focus on yourself, on the things you want, on the things you need and you start asking yourself real questions as to whether you really need or want them and how having these things will impact your life, the answer is you will get back if you are true to yourself are usually not favorable or are not what you want to hear.
We live in a very fast-paced environment which is dominated by the use of Internet and social media. The dominance of social media which is always in our face every day allows us to look into other peoples lives and see what they’re doing and how much they’ve achieved since most people only put out their perfectly branded lives which in turn can put pressure on anyone who doesn’t feel as if they have achieved as much as that person or hasn’t achieved what they believe they should be achieving at that point in time in their life.
This is why it’s very important to regularly take time out to put a brake on our fast paced lives, whether it’s five minutes or 10 minutes preferably every day before you start your day or at the end of your day to just reflect on the things you’ve done and have achieved. Remember every little achievement counts and even if there were failures, every failure is a lesson learned and when you look at each failure or you will realize that it happened for reason to better yourself. This is why we need to get away from our very distracting world and take that time for ourselves fo reflect so as to improve ourselves to become best version of ourselves.
When was the last time you actually went out and sat in a quiet space and inhaled the fresh air or felt the breeze against your neck and temples, smelt the air around you or just lifted your head up into the sun and just appreciated its warmth and what nature has the offer? I bet most of you don’t remember because you’ve never taken the time out to just appreciate nature but we spend 95% of our times focusing on what everybody else is doing which is bad for our mental and emotional psyche because most people who put things out there only show their perfect lives. They don’t show you their struggles and hindrances.
So if you’re reading this right now, do yourself a favor and just close your eyes and think of all the amazing things you’ve done… even if it is something small – it adds up because that is one positive thing or goal that you’ve achieved that you did not achieve before. It’s OK to have “ME” time to reflect on what you want in your life instead of worrying about what everybody else is wanting for their lives and having ME “reflection time” can take your thoughts to a dark place which is very scary and depressing as initially as any Soul searching activity, but at the end of each reflection session, trust me you will be happy you faced your demons because until you face your demons, you cannot win it will keep hunting and slowing you down. So you my friend, need to be the warrior to take control YOUR life and kick out those demons from your system to bring out the best version of you and to achieve your dreams.
