Cameroonian event planners are at it again with their inability to effectively stick to contracts they agreed on and to pay their artists on time! This is something that has plagued the African and Cameroonianand entertainment community over the years especially when Cameroonian-based artist’s travel internationally to perform at shows. We just got word from Daphne’s record label – Steven’s Music Entertianment that her show last night (in Nantes, France where she is currently touring), was forced to get cancelled due to lack of payment to the star. Look SME team means business and they will NOT let their star artist or any of their artists for that matter perform without an advance payment!
That’s just the name of the game and per their contract with the organizers of the Nante Show, Daphne was to receieve all money upfront prior to performing. This should be a warning to all you so called event planners/organizers who make artists travel internationally, only for you all to not get your act right! Stick to your contracts or you and your promo biz will look bad. Artists please watch and learn. Make sure you have a signed contract that clearly stipulates all conditions as agreed upon before you accept any work or agree to perform at shows, events or even do public appearances.
Our take… Cameroonian-based artists are not desperate to fly abroad to perform. It is part of their job. Some like Daphne, are doing very well back home and live much better lifestyles than many Cameroonians abroad. So don’t think for a split second that when you plan to have these artists come and perform overseas, that you are doing them a big favor because YOU ARE NOT! It goes both ways. Obviously these artists bring money to your pockets as well or non-payment would never have been an issue here!! I REPEAT STICK TO YOUR CONTRACTS and stop disgracing the 237 music industry abroad with your lack of professionalism!! We don talk am!
