This setup encourages a sense of normalcy and responsibility. The cells themselves are designed with large windows to let in plenty of natural light, and they have curved walls to create a more pleasant and less claustrophobic living space.
Beyond the residential areas, the prison offers numerous facilities for vocational training and recreation. There are workshops where inmates can learn new skills, which are crucial for their reintegration into society.
The prison also includes a church and several non-denominational worship rooms, emphasizing the importance of spiritual well-being. The interiors feature a neutral color palette to maintain a calming atmosphere, contributing to the overall humane environment.
Despite its luxurious features, Storstrøm Prison does not compromise on security. The entire facility is surrounded by a 20-foot wall, and extensive camera surveillance covers the prison grounds to ensure safety.
