There was a time when it felt like everyone had an iPhone. Whether you were at school, at work, or hanging out with friends, chances are someone was pulling an iPhone out of their pocket. Apple had become the brand to beat, and the iPhone was one of the hottest gadgets around. That’s why the company’s latest earnings caught so many people off guard.
According to CNN Money, Apple has reported its first quarterly revenue decline in more than a decade, with slowing iPhone sales playing a big role. Even more surprising, iPhone sales dropped year over year for the first time since the device launched back in 2007.

The news also shook investors, with Apple’s stock falling in after-hours trading after the earnings report was released. Now, one bad quarter doesn’t mean the iPhone is finished, but it does make you wonder what’s next.
Samsung and other Android brands are stepping up their game, and smartphone buyers have more choices than ever before. Apple may have to work a little harder to keep the excitement around the iPhone alive. So, is this just a bump in the road, or is the smartphone race starting to look a lot more competitive?
Which side are you on: Team Apple or Team Samsung?
