Popular Nigerian newspaper’s magazine segment – This Day Style magazine released its list of “Game Changers of 2019.” The list includes an athlete, a musician, Nigeria’s first lady, and other public figures. Two notable African billionaires made the cut and they are Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote of Dangote Group.
It was no surprise that Dangote as he is popularly called and who is currently the richest black person in the world with a net worth of approximately $10 million according to Forbes in 2019 was listed as a Game Changer. The business mogul has spent most of 2019 building a fertilizer plant which is said to be the second largest after that of Qatar. His good friend Femi Otedola always proudly refers to the plant as “the 8th wonder of the world”.
Femi Otedola, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, who has made it to the billionaire’s club twice in the last decade, was also listed as a Game Changer. The oil magnate who is now the Executive Chairman of Geregu Power PLC is often seen with his best friend (Dangote) did a lot of philanthrophic acts including donating millions of dollars to the Cuppy Foundation to help Nigerian children in need.
