The person behind these beautiful pictures goes by the alias Mochafruit illustrations on Instagram. On their profile (it’s still a mystery if this person is a he or she) they consider themselves a melanin magnification specialist! *In my street voice I will say* Ain’t that right ya’ll! One does have to admit that these drawings are very enticing, beautiful and very intentional as they depict women of color… wait I mean BLACK women as in Blackenicious!
There is an up-rise of many black artists whose only focal point for their artwork is on black people only (mostly women) as if to say since black women are the most criticized race or living creatures and are at the very bottom of the totem pole in society (very little sarcasm in that sentence), why not focus only on them.
To all the brothers, do not despair. Your time will come but for now, we celebrate all black artists not musicians lol (or should we say illustrators?) who have and are investing their time in showcasing the beauty of being black and that black IS beautiful and that dark skinned is VERY beautiful. Most importantly, letting the world know that black women are Queens and will not be considered anything less! For that we hail you. As they say… the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice! ?
