Tina Turner whose real names are Anna Mae Bullock, has been reported dead at 83-years old. The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll died peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday May 24, in Küsnacht, Switzerland. Turner adopted Switzerland as has been living there since 1995.
The news of her death was confirmed on her official Facebook page announced. Here is what was posted on her official Facebook page:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly. (© Peter Lindbergh)”
Although Turner has a plethora of hit songs during her extensive career, one song that particularly stood out and which went to be her greatest hit songs that many will remember her for is What’s Love Got To Do With It, released in 1983 from her multi-platinum album “Private Dancer”.
A movie also titled “What’s Love Got to Do With It” was later released in 1993, was a biographical film about Tina Turner. The movie was based off her 1986 autobiography book “I, Tina” which made headlines at the time as it details her life with ex-husband Ike Turner who was very abusive to her. The movie stars Angela Bassett as Tina Turner and Lawrence Fishbourne as her abusive husband Ike Turner.
Turner had two biological sons; Craig and Ronnie Turner. She also adopted two of her ex-husband Ike Turners sons. Craig her oldest son, committed suicide (self inflicted gunshot wound) in 2018 at age 59, while Craig died of colon cancer in December 2022 at age 62 less than six months before his mothers death. It is unimaginable what she must have been going through emotionally, having lived through the death two sons. They say a parent should never have to bury a child as it should be the other way around.
The world has lost a musical legend but her music, life and legacy shall live on forever.
