African all over the world could not be less proud having one of their own like Francis Ngannou take part in this famous action movie sequel. It’s not everyday you see a big black African UFC Heavyweight Champion with an original thick African accent taking part such commercially acclaimed movies.
Despite the happiness to see one of their own in Fast and Furious 9, many African fans of Ngannou have shown unhappy gestures on social media about their heavyweight champion dying prematurely in the movie after just three minutes.
Although it’s understandable that the movie’s director may have casted Ngannou as a cameo to spice thinks up promotional wise, being the UFC Heavyweight and a new face in the movie, many fans expected to see more of the champion. Many fans might not be aware that though Francis Ngannou’s part was a cameo appearance, he got casted and acted his part before he got the title of UFC Heavyweight Champion. That’s a topic for another day.
By constantly showing their dismay of his limited presence in the movie, his fans might not be aware that they might be making his three minute appearance in the movie trend than the unprecedented records set by Francis Ngannou? He has set some unprecedented records since coming to the the spotlight and here are some of them.
- He is only the second African and first Cameroonian to make it to the Fast and Furious cast.
2. He holds the record of the hardest punch ever. In 2017, N’gannou set the record for the hardest punch ever officially recorded, with a power of 129,161 units, to better the previous record that was set by kickboxer Tyrone Spong. He also recorded a power of 122,000 units with his off-balance uppercut; a weapon he loves to use when inside the Octagon.
3. Francis Ngannou is the first African Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) who won the American Mixed Martial Arts League heavyweight title.
4. The 34-year old has recently been awarded and graced as the new positive energy in the sports millieu, after being recognized as one of Marvel’s Earth’s Athletes, especially one coming from nothing to become a household name.
5. Francis Ngannou popularly known as the “Predator” has been in action 19 times, losing just three fights (consecutively) and winning 12 of his fights all via knock out.
6. He owns a foundation named after him located in Bâtie, in the West Region of Cameroon, where he set up a training academy in 2019 to help other Cameroonian athletes and aspiring fighters be trained so they don’t have to go through what he went through to be where he is today.
7. His filmography harbors two movies; Fast and Furious 9 and Jackass, both of which he made cameo appearances.
