Nollywood is currently in flames as two heavyweight media women – film producer and creative director Chichi Nworah, and actress Ini Edo, are at loggerheads following an intellectual property dispute.
The creative director of the popular Netflix series “Shanty Town” Chichi Nworah, is suing Ini Edo for claiming that the movie which she acted in and reportedly co-produced, is hers.
In a public notice released on February 22, by the management of Giant Creative Media owned by Chichi, the notice indicated that Ini Edo is claiming copyright for the movie whereas she’s not the rightful owner of the property.
The disclaimer to Ini’s claims read:
“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious and false claims purportedly made by Ms.Iniobong Edo Etim (Ini Edo) of Minini Empire Productions Limited circulating on social media, claiming to be the owner of the intellectual property of the Netflix original movie SHANTY TOWN”
“We wish to notify the public to ignore such false claims as we continue to assert right as the sole and exclusive owners of the copyright” – the notice added.
The notice indicated that the company has instructed their lawyers to all necessary legal measures to further protect and secure enforcement of the intellectual property of their creative director.
