Music lovers have been in a state of pandemonium, as they can’t wrap their head about what’s up with their favorite singer Daphné Njie.
Daphné, has been Cameroon’s most decorated singer since 2014. The singer seems to have been stripped-off, her title as the Cameroonian singer with the second most viewed song on YouTube, after her 2016 hit single, “Calée” produced by Salatiel is no longer available on Steven’s Music record Label Channel.
It should be noted that the aforementioned hit single, was only second to Franko’s “Coller la petite”. The song is however, available song on Daphné’s YouTube channel with slightly over 71,000 subscribers, but it only has Eight million views and the channel also has only eight videos.
So the big question recently has been, Where has her biggest hit “Calée”, which had over 30 million views and some other songs with several millions of views ?
The multi-talented award winning musician who rose to prominence in 2014, has been a fan-favorite, even after her musical hiatus. She hasn’t released music in a long time. While music lovers have been consoling themselves with the fact that the singer took quality time off, to focus on family after getting married, close sources also reveal that, that hasn’t been the only reason.
The source revealed to The Hotjem, that the 34-year-old’s way out from her former Record Label – Steven’s Music, hasn’t been easy. The source claims that there has been a couple of court cases, that completely shattered the working relationship that existed between the singer and the Record Label.
Steven’s Music LLC, which has been one of the most influential Record Labels in exporting the Cameroonian culture, through artists like: Gasha, Daphné, Shura, Ewube, Boy Tag, M’pro, etc, has seen all these artists leave, with the latest becoming Boy Tag.
As it stands, Seppo, and the recently signed gospel singer and producer – Egbe TMB, are the only artists under the auspices of the Record Label. It’s rumored that the singer bought her catalog from the aforementioned Record Label.
While her channel only has limited number of songs from her entire discography and career, the claim about her buying-off her catalog is confusing.
