Talk about coming out. Is it a shocker to many that Cameroonian gossip blogger Bandy Kiki of Kinnaka’s Blog announced today that she is a lesbian? Over the past months, Kiki has been hinting to everyone about her affiliations with the lesbian gay community and her support of it via social media.
She vocally supporting their organization and if anything else, her hashtags under her captions on Instagram sort of gave it away, therefore, if it hadn’t crossed your mind for a split second that she might be gay then OKAAAY – you’re living in Mars. In any case, today she officially announced it on her Instagram page that she is a Lesbian.
WHY NOW?
Nobody knows why she’s coming out now and didn’t announce this before now. It could be that it was only with time that people would have noticed the type of people she hangs out with if that is the lifestyle she chooses, plus people were already buzzing about her being gay so why not beat them to the game and announce it first right? Or maybe it’s just none of anyone’s business what her s*xual preference is, but then again, why hide in fear of who you really are?
Some people this it is a good move on her part. Meanwhile, many others are saying that this might just be another one of her many attempts to gain attention and are not buying it or supporting her decision.
What do you think? Do you think she’s seeking for much needed attention or not? Regardless of everyone else’s opinion and thoughts about this, it’s important to remember that part of growing and accepting yourself is accepting and living in your truth. Kiki may be growing into the person she truly is and why fight the demons inside her?
With that said how do you think this announcement will be received by Africans who follow her, specifically Cameroonians?
