On July 26, an American Airlines flight from Denver to Miami had to abort takeoff after a tire blew out, sparking a fire in the landing gear. Passengers were evacuated using emergency slides as flames and smoke poured from the plane.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, came to a stop on the runway. One person was hospitalized, and five others were treated for minor injuries. Everyone made it out safely, but the panic was real.
This is just one of several aviation scares involving major U.S. airlines this year, raising serious questions about safety, maintenance, and how much we really trust the skies in 2025.
