It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of renowned Cameroonian saxophonist and musician, Manu Dibango, at the age of 86. Dibango, whose career spanned over six decades, died today after a battle with COVID-19.
Widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest musicians, Dibango was a pioneering force in blending traditional African music with jazz, funk, and soul. His iconic hit, Soul Makossa, left an indelible mark on the global music scene and continues to inspire artists worldwide.
Dibango’s death marks a tragic loss for the world of music and for the countless fans who admired his innovative sound and boundless creativity. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and the millions who were touched by his music.
