There is no doubt that TikTok is increasingly becoming one of the most popular social media platforms (though it was the most downloaded app in the Apple app store in early 2018), but it’s gradually creeping back to the top.
Still being ranked by most outlets as 10th most used social media platform with over 500 million users across the world, many people are not getting left behind at all, though others still find it difficult to tag along. It’s not just a popular app for fun as many consider it to be, TikTok is an employer paying most of its users who have monetized their creativity therein, just like some other applications are doing.
While surfing through social media lately, I came across a multi-talented Cameroonian 19-year-old teenage photo model called Diana Bouli and she seems to be the girl of the moment. She’s a new Cameroonian breeze blowing across the shores of TikTok with over 311,100 followers and over 4.1 million likes.
I know we have many from Cameroon on TikTok, but there’s something unique about her. She’s from the French region of Cameroon based in the center region and she is rightfully getting the attention she hugely deserves.
Her niche is quite unique. Though she follows TikTok trends like most users do, she does not stick to new trends and modern day music alone. She also takes a trip back to where it used to matter most, when Cameroonian music used to be what it isn’t today. She’s not a musician per se, but she is good at mimicking and revising those olden day singers in her videos, with the filters, the poses and more.
Unless I have not done my home work well, I’m forced to believe that she’s the only one in this line of trend at the moment. There is no doubt that others will follow suit, but she’s the one championing the trend as it stands. For those of you who know little about Cameroonian music and some of its pioneers, it might interest you to follow her on all her social media handles.
It’s obvious that TikTok is her holy ground but she also uploads these videos to other social media platforms where she’s also has a high follower base, except on Instagram which she seems to use mostly for her photo modeling display.
