After nearly two months in court and three full days of jury deliberation, Sean “Diddy” Combs has received a partial verdict in his high-profile federal trial — and it’s a mix of wins and losses for the music mogul.
Prosecutors initially came in heavy, accusing Diddy of running a criminal enterprise involving sex trafficking, kidnapping, arson, and more under federal racketeering laws. But just before closing arguments, they quietly dropped some of the most explosive claims — including the alleged 2012 firebombing of Kid Cudi’s Porsche, which was reportedly tied to Diddy’s anger over Cudi’s relationship with Cassie Ventura.
By the time the case went to the jury, only four charges remained: two for sex trafficking, and two for transporting women across state lines for prostitution.
Diddy was found not guilty of federal racketeering and sex trafficking. However, he was found guilty on two counts of transporting women for prostitution: Each of those convictions carries a maximum of 10 years, so Diddy could face up to 20 years total, depending on how the judge rules during sentencing.
So what does this mean? Diddy dodged the most serious charges, but he’s still looking at real consequences. The case has dominated headlines for weeks, and while some see the verdict as partial justice, others say it barely scratches the surface.
Sentencing will soon be announced.
