While looking to be voted back in power as president of the United States in 2024, Donald Trump has vowed to stop automatic birthright citizenship for children of illegal Immigrants, should he be re-elected .
As reported by Reuters on Tuesday May 30th 2023, Trump said that if he is re-elected president in 2024, he would seek to end automatic citizenship for children born in the United States to immigrants in the country illegally, a plan that contradicts how a 19th century amendment to the U.S. Constitution long has been interpreted. Speaking in a statement on Tuesday, May 30, Trump claimed the constitutional guaranteeing of U.S. citizenship for anyone born on U.S. soil, regardless of their parents immigration status, was “not working”.
“As part of my plan to secure the border, on day one of my new term in office, I will sign an executive order making it clear to federal agencies that under the correct interpretation of the law, going forward, the future children of illegal aliens will not receive automatic U.S. citizenship.
