Portugal losing to Morocco in the quarter finals was a huge blow with Morocco winning 1:0 to advance in the semifinals. The only goal scored by Morocco during the game was scored just before halftime in the 42nd minute. This loss crushed Cristiano Ronaldo’s dream of winning a World Cup title. After Portugal lost to Morocco in the quarter-finals match on December 10, Cristiano Ronaldo said,
“Winning a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career.”
“I fought for it. I fought hard for this dream… sadly yesterday the dream ended.”
He may not have won a World Cup title to his name but he has made hundreds of millions of dollars throughout the lifetime of his career from soccer and is set to still make hundreds of millions for the next few years. Ronaldo has also won many international titles and has had an above stellar career that many can only dream of. Sometimes you just can’t have it all, but in the eyes of many, Ronaldo is still a winner and still number one.
