Motorcycles which are commonly known as “Okada” might be considered a nuisance as many label it, as they bring about noise pollution and to an extend cause random accidents, especially when handled by unprofessional riders, but their importance can’t be underestimated. They ease transportation especially when faced with a queue/traffic jams.
It is been confirmed by the inhabitants of Lagos. Since the Nigerian government placed a ban on motorbikes in Lagos, the population received the decision with mixed feelings and can’t wait to have the ban uplifted.
Lagos being the most populated city in Nigeria with a population of over 14 million people, has experienced transportation issues, as they believe bikes make movement and transportation easier and faster than cars and tricycles. It is for this reason that the population of Lagos, will be out on the streets on Saturday, January 8, to protest non-violently and peacefully against the government’s decision.
QUESTION:
Do you think the government made a right call to ban motorcycles in a city like Lagos?
