While many keep anticipating an international breakthrough for Cameroonian entertainment, the country’s netizens continue to prove why it might just continue to tarry, with this consistently rebuffing energy. One thing most Cameroonians know how to do very well, is not supporting one another. The entertainment-sphere is obviously divided into segments, and support is quite selective; a fact that has kept the industry forever stagnant.
Tzy Panchak signed to Blu Nation record label, has been trending for the past few days and even if he has not issued any statement ever since going under serious criticism from his fellow compatriots for using a masquerade in his latest video “Bellair”, it is yet another case to be very worried about as far as entertainment in his country, Cameroon is concerned.
While you’ll understand most cultural ambassadors for not taking it lightly with the “misuse” of the masquerade in a video, you cannot help but wonder about fans who have no particular reason to criticize just about anything their eyes come into contact with. We won’t pretend that Cameroonian’s have been struggling to break into the international market from an entertainment perspective, and the problem is either that they want to break in there with so much perfection or they are not ready for this step at all.
We can accept that Tzy Panchak often went over the line with his outings in the past, but for someone who has managed to stay in his lane for a long time now, building his brand and music catalogue, and seeing results, you cannot help but worry about some of the criticism that has been coming his way.
Keeping the masquerade trend aside, one might understand why he lashes out in some cases following certain attacks to his brand. Earlier this year, the Blu Nation artist was invited in Spain for a tour at the LA Liga museum, where he had a chance to watch FC Villarreal’s game live. He was also awarded a trophy, but many found pleasure in criticizing the entire move, labeling it as either untrue or invalid. It is safe to assume that getting on that platform surely implies that he has been noticed for his input in the music industry in Cameroon.
