The Ivorian president, Alassane Ouattara surprised all the players from Ivory Coast’s winning squad with huge tokens of appreciation for a job well done at the 34th edition of the AFCON.
On February 13th, the Ivorian president, offered a villa each, worth 50Million CFA, and 50Million CFA cash prizes to each player. This was to honor them for their heroics.
For their coach Emerse Faé, his cash prize was doubled to 100 Million CFA. Emerse’s journey with the Ivorian team, only begun when Ivory coach sacked their head coach. He was only incharge of the team for four games, and led them to their third title.
Emerse’s win is even more fascinating, because he’s a former Ivorian player and many didn’t believe he could clinch the title.
Alassane Outtara’s gesture towards the players to not only celebrate with the Ivorian players, but honor them with a villa and cash prizes, has been lauded by online spectators.
The president of the Republic, Alassane Outtara, was highly involved in the team’s participation, also coupled with the fact that the competition was hosted in his country.
Ivory Coast, made $7,000,000 as winners of the competition while the runners up, Nigeria, made $4,000,000.
