World Refugee Day is a day set aside to celebrate Refugees across the Globe.This day was acknowledged back in year 2000 by the UN and since that time, this holiday has always been honored. Therefore, June 20th, is usually celebrated worldwide as World Refugee Day.
In commemoration of this day, The Belinda Babila Foundation -BBF by Dr. Belinda Babila in Akwa IBom, Nigeria as an annual routine, teamed up with Southern Cameroonian Refugees to celebrate this day.
Dating back to 2016 when the Anglophone crises claimed the Southern Part of Cameroon, over 100,000 people have forcefully migrated out to Nigeria due to unrest , where they have been seeking refuge.
As the theme for this year’s celebration, “Together We Heal, Laugh & Learn “, the following Activities were employed to accompany the celebration in Akwa IBom Nigeria. They included:
– A Church Service and Intercession
– Cultural Expose-Skill Acquisition Training
– Challenges from Refugee
– Word of Advice from the UN, Clan Head Refugee Leaders, DSS Security
– Refugee Give back.
