Actress, director and businesswoman Sylvia Joke, the wife of popular veteran actor Olu Jacobs, has revealed that her husband is no longer the same as he continues to battle with dementia.
While talking with Nancy Isime in a recent interview, she revealed that the husband she used to know is no longer the same, of course due to his illness but she also said that he has always been a great father and husband to her and their children.
The couple is one of the most admired couples in the entertainment industry, based on how both have lived their lives and loved each other through thick and thin.
“The husband I knew is no more and there for me, but this man that is here is someone I still love.”
“It has not been easy… There was a point of acceptance for me that everything happening is reality and it is like the person I married, 80 percent of the time is no longer there.”
“But the thing is this when he was there, he was an incredible father to his children and an amazing husband, he was practically my best friend.”
The couple founded and operate the Lufodo Group, a media corporation that consists of film production, distribution assets, and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts where she serves as Director of Studies. She is also the pioneer managing director of Malete Film Village, in association with Kwara State University.
While Sylvia is 61, her 80-year-old husband’s illness has really weighed on him to the point that at some point last year, many thought he would kick the bucket.
