“He owes us nothing”
– Rebecca Enonchong defends Francis Ngannou
Africa’s leading female tech guru, Rebecca Enonchong, has made it a point to call out people attacking the former UFC Heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, for wrongly singing the Cameroonian national anthem while at a recent visit to the prestigious Harvard University along with Kamaru Usman and other high-profile athletes.
Enonchong, was not pleased by the comments on Twitter and on social media where people criticized the heavyweight champ for incorrectly singing the anthem of his country of birth. She says he does not owe Cameroonians anything, no explanation – nothing.
If anything he is doing the country a favor by always letting people know where he is from without hesitation and attempting to sing the anthem was one of them.
“While you were in school learning to recite the anthem, the guy was in the sand mines for a living. He literally crossed the desert. But some attack him from the top of the pedestal of privilege. He owes us nothing”
– Rebecca Enonchong Tweeted.
Her Tweet went on to stir mix feelings.
