After Senegalese judicial court confirmed 44-year-old Diomaye Faye, as the rightful winner of the 2024 presidential elections, the incumbent president Macky Sall, shall officially handover to the new president elect. This comes days after the outgoing president received the newly-elected president at his resident.
The inaugural procession, has been scheduled for Tuesday April 2, 2024. The event shall be attended by top African officials with presidents like Bola Tinubu of Nigeria who is head of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and many other presidents and dignitries, confirming their presence.
Diomaye Faye’s remarkable was not contested by any of the 19 candidates, as all agreed with the court’s final declaration of final results which saw the former tax official claim a 54.2 percent of the votes.
Faye shall therefore, be officially sworn in as the fifth Senegalese president since 1960, and he’ll hold the record for being the youngest amongst others regarding the country’s political changes over the years.
