Anyone who knows African pop singer Daphne Njie should know that she is not one to bullied by internet trolls! After posting sexy photos and a video of herself yesterday in a bikini (in Florida), Daphne who would have normally received thousands of comments telling her how beautiful and sexy she looked was instead greeted with tons of insults from fans and others.
WHY? Simply because she is married! According to many, she is now a married woman who should not be exposing her body in bikinis for the world to see. And because she was exposing herself, many took it upon themselves to advice her to cover up. Some even using God to support their claim.
Our question to you is since when did getting married equate to covering up? Daphne is a celebrity who has a certain lifestyle and if anything, her husband knew she dressed up like this before he met her, so why would she change now because of him? This is why many females, especially African women lose themselves when they get married in the name of a man. Because suddenly when they become a “Mrs” it seems to me like they cannot be true to themselves and just live their lives. I’m not saying you should not consider what your spouse feels about your actions, but I’m pretty sure Daphne’s hubby is fine with it.
Be yourself and if you’re unhappy in your marriage or can’t wear a bikini, don’t try to prevent others from living their best life! Some commenters came to the singers defense and pointed out that there are many married women out there who do worse things. So stop pushing your archaic mentality and beliefs onto others and be more focused on your own married or unmarried lives.
Why aren’t men asked to cover up when they go to the beach wearing only boxer shorts? Some even wear briefs which are more provocative than boxers. Shouldn’t married men not wear a T-shirt to cover up their chest if married must wear a “kaba” to swim? Also, some have said that some of the female trolls are just haters as they wish they had Daphne’s body.
Just as a reminder, Daphne posted a “clap back” video today of herself flaunting her bikini with the video focusing on her backside to show her as she walked, and she had many supporters who said she should “PEPPER DEM” or in other words, give it to the haters.
