Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is gradually stepping back from the day-to-day operations of his multi-billion-dollar empire and passing the torch to his three accomplished daughters. As the Dangote Group evolves, the next generation is already making strategic moves across key sectors.
Mariya Dangote, the eldest, recently joined the board of Dangote Cement, one of the continent’s largest publicly traded companies. She previously served as Executive Director of Operations at Dangote Sugar Refinery, where she oversaw strategic planning and digital transformation. Her leadership is seen as essential for keeping the company agile and focused on long-term value.
Halima Dangote, a seasoned executive within the group, sits on the board of Dangote Cement as well. She played an important role in revitalizing Dangote Flour Mills, leading to its eventual acquisition by Singapore-based Olam Group. Halima currently holds the position of Group Executive Director at Dangote Industries Ltd (DIL).
Fatima Dangote, the youngest, serves as Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations at DIL, where she manages the company’s procurement, communication, and strategic planning efforts. She’s widely recognized for her strong business acumen and operational insight.
From strategy to execution, the Dangote daughters are not just filling in gaps, they’re redefining their father’s legacy. With their combined talents, the future of the Dangote empire appears to be in exceptionally capable hands.
