Lately, there has been a lot of social media debates about what kids should do and what they shouldn’t be doing at a certain age. Some parents believe in training their kids while they are still tender while others don’t.
If you read the bible most often or even if it’s once in a while, you’ll bare with me that this book, even if you don’t believe that it’s some spiritual piece, you will at least admit that there is readily available wisdom in it.
In Haggai 2:9, the book makes it clear, that “the glory of the latter shall be greater than that of the former” and you could relate it in any way you want, but i will rather relate it to kids of nowadays. If you are growing up a child and not preparing that, that child someday becomes better and bigger than you, then you have a problem that even TD Jakes can’t solve.
In our present day situation, what kids or children below the age of 10 can do with a mobile or cell phone, will shock you. It’s pretty much difficult for some people to yet admit that times have changed and, in as much as there are somethings which will and must still put you in an awe state, most things done in this age by children (kids) should no longer come as a surprise.
If you are a parent in this era who still kills the dreams of a child because of fear or simply because you are stereotyped, then it is high time you refrain from such. Its sad that most African parents or people still think that a child has to reach or attain a certain age or status quo before they could do some certain things, lol! Gone are those days… Children are no longer the leaders of tomorrow, they are the leaders of now.
The problem with most African parents is that they kill more dreams with fear and superstition. However, if you still live in the dark ages thinking that emancipating your children at a tender age means spoiling them, then that’s a pity. Well, if you still believe that a child has to attain a certain age before getting into most extracurricular activities or before embarking on pursuing their talents or dreams, let that be for you. Let others who already understand this magic to do the what they are doing for their own.
The stupid thing most social media trollers do with fake profiles is that they always want to use children to take on or pass a message to their parents for reasons known only to them and that is digital cowardice or may be they don’t know. Many however call it envy and hatred but i think that’s just blatant ignorance.
When a little Cameroonian Mayorchu official plays an excellent role in #LittleCyndy, Cameroonians consider her too young, but when they watch a little Emmanuella of Mark Angel comedy from Nigeria and they are thrilled. Nobody is stopping you from training your own kids in the way they should go, of course, the way they are now is the way they were nurtured and trained after all but just don’t be the one having a problem every time when others wish to leave a certain level.
Even if children are the future, the future begins now. !!
