THJ: Tirajai thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this interview with TheHotJem.com. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what does your name Tirajai mean?
Tirajai: My name is Silas Berinyuy Tirajai and I was born and raised in Cameroon, Banso to be precise but now I live in Dallas, TX. A lot of people know me as Ventura but I decided to go by my last name ‘Tirajai’ which means “to learn from mistakes”. The change of name was simply a way of accepting who I am and taking responsibility for all my past mistakes.
THJ: Wow who knew there could be such a story behind a name! We love it already! Well thanks for sharing those interesting details. When did you move to the US and was it to pursue a music career?
Tirajai: Yeah, I moved to the US almost 2 years ago and one of the main reasons was to go back to school and then pursue my music career along the line.
THJ: What were you thinking at the time of your move to the US?
Tirajai: It’s not often people like me get this kind of opportunity. So, I thought of this as a second chance to right all my wrongs and finally build the life and career I’ve always dreamt of as a kid.
THJ: Do you think you made the right choice? Does America have what you think you need to succeed in your career?
Tirajai: Yeah, I made the right choice though it wasn’t easy when I first got here cos you will always have people who will try to make you see how some other person failed in what you are trying to do but that’s not a strange story to me. America is just the right place I needed to be in order to be able to balance up school, taking care of my family while building up my career. So yes, America has all I need to succeed.
